Sea spurge removal at the 2021 AGM
Location: Wilson’s Prom
When: FEBRUARY 2021
Partners: Friends of the Prom
Two dozen eager beavers turned out for our biggest event since COVID lockdowns. The hardy legends removed sea spurge from Picnic Bay with the help of Friends of the Prom. Lunch was supplied and although we got a bit wet, spirits were high. During the AGM we discussed future events, including the much anticipated Plant and Dance and many other potential events.
Plantin’ trees in Newry
Location: NEWRY
When: JUNE 2021
Partners: MAFFRA AND DISTRICTS LANDCVARE NETWORK, GLAWAC
FUNDER: COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER ACTION GRANTS
BOSS ORGANISER: ELSA BURNELL
We had first timers, young and old planters, locals and legends who came from Melbourne to plant a mix of 1000 native grasses, shrubs and trees which will help stabilise the banks of the billabong and connect #biolinks so that native wildlife can move about the landscape. At midday we were joined by Uncles Lloyd Hood and Nicky Moffatt from GLAWAC who shared some of their history, welcomed us to country and performed a smoking ceremony. Some called it a day and made their way to the Briagalong pub for a meal and well-earned drink , while others picked up the Hamilton planters for round two. Thanks to Megan & Nathan Grumley (and family) for hosting their beautiful property.
