A successful weekend with 20 individuals having fun stand up paddle boarding (a bit choppy conditions but loads of laughter), a session with the inspiring Beau Miles chatting about ‘telling our story,’ some weeding with the Walkerville Foreshore Committee and a presentation from Wildark Productions. Big thanks to Gomathy Kitchen for dinner and fortunately we all managed to stay dry with some challenging weather conditions. Thank you to everyone who attended this event, it wouldn’t be possible without your curious and adventurous minds.

This retreat was supported by the DELWP Community Volunteer Actions Grants, Melbourne Water and the WGCMA.

Plant and Dance 2.0

LOCATION: RYANSTON
WHEN: AUGUSUT 2022
PARTNERS: BASS COAST LANDCARE NETWORK
BOSS ORGANISER: BRITA JOBLING

What a success!! Our second Plant and Dance was just as fun and eventful as our first. We couldn’t be more PROUD of everyone who was involved to create such a memorable event…and what a pearler of a weekend. 3,500 trees were planted at two sites on the property, a fantastic effort that will transform the landscape, increasing biodiversity. Thank you to all of the volunteers for your amazing help planting and groovy dancing, you are ALL inspiring. Thank you to Bunurong Land Council for welcoming us to Bunurong country. Thank you to the landholder, Scott Anderson for hosting the event. A massive THANK YOU to the crew at Bass Coast Landcare Network for all of there help organising and running such a successful event. As always, thank you to the GIL committee for continuously supporting one another to create these special events. And finally, a huge LOVE to the talented artists, there was some MAD sounds and stories dropping through the speakers.

Hike and Killy lattes at the 2022 AGM

When: APRIL 2021
Partners: TRUST FOR NATURE

Thanks to everyone who came along to our AGM at Kilcunda General Store yesterday. We reflected on the past year and discussed upcoming events….we have some pretty exciting stuff in the works. Thanks to John who welcomed us to his Trust for Nature property. John and his wife are doing a great job of restoring their 16 acre patch of remnant bush.

Kayaking the Maccy R (Macalister River)

Location: Tinamba
When: Feburary 2022
Partners: Gippsland Recreation Outdoors, West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority
BOSS ORGANISER: KELSEY TONG

Now that was an EPIC adventure and what a way to start off our first event of 2022. We met some wonderful new faces, indulged in an amazing spread of food, paddled until our arms were sore and had a laugh at those that fell in the drink. We managed to cover a 17km stretch of #Macalisterriver and found a number of weedy #willows along the way….Don’t worry, the waypoints were marked on a GPS so that the willows can be removed. Thanks to Sam, Gemma and Paul from Gippsland Recreation Outdoors who did a wicked job of safely guiding us down the river.
